Post by: Fernando on August 19, 2010, 08:27:00 AM
Hi Guys,

I'm trying to make a carbon laminate bamboo bow and would like to have some tips from you and the specs of the carbon tape; like the weave pattern, FAW,reinforcement yarn, thickness,.
thanks,
Fernando

Most people use carbon fiber strips made by gordons, available at Binghams and other bow supply stores, these will add speed to your bow , between 5 and 15 fps of a comparible fiberglass backed bow. I have experimented with carbon fiber tape that I bought online, can't remember were I got it from. It is a 45 degree weave,I put it on a wooden bow with epoxy. It added about 10 lbs draw weight but only about 10 fps speed, so about the same as a wooden bow of the same draw weight. I have read that carbon fiber with parrallel strands would give more speed, but haven't tried it.
