Title: Heard a crack
Post by: Sage590 on August 14, 2010, 08:34:00 AM
Well I decided to give the wenge a try for a riser without any accent strips. Everything has held up so far. I however only brought the taper on the limb down to 12" instead of 15". This in turn caused my bow to be higher poundage so I will go back and bring it down to 15". My question is that upon intial stringing and about the third draw I heard a very quiet crack. I have inspected the bow up and down several times and can find nothing. Does anyone know if this is just a "Break in thing" or should I be concerned. It is a glass R/D.

Rough spot in string nock groove?

Wear your safety glasses just in case!

Thanks Kenny,
That is a good point because this is the first glass bow with FF string. I was reading earlier that I have to have very well shaped nock grooves. I should be able to go back and fine tune them. Good luck on the hunt by the way. You will have to try an Alaskan moose with  your longbow someday.
