Hello all,
I'm looking for some wood for a riser. More specifically, some heavy rosewood or another dark brown wood.
Any suggestions on where to look? I tried a couple of places (Fedora, Binghams) but no luck.
thanks,
Tom.
ere are some places I found with a 5 second search on the net.

just hit the net and you'll find a place to get it. If you don't want it sent in the mail, I would check your local lumber stores and see if they couldn't order it for you.
I have some East Indian Rosewood.Nice to work with, sands nice, must be oily tho.
Dark brown, but as hard to get finish to dry on as coco, this one won't dry with poly,or CA and poly,or CA and fastdry poly.........

I see you're in Ontario.
I don't know what retailers are up there but I've bought rosewood and other hardwood turning blanks from Woodcraft.
We can all get wood online so I'll share another one of my sources:

Hello all,
Thanks for the suggestions.
best,
Tom.
Kenny, have you ever tried fiberglass resin like used in body work, boat building, instead of super glue over oily wood? I sealed a coco riser with it, took a lot of sanding because this stuff gets hard as glass and if you sand thru it will show if you don't recoat the spot. I finished the bow with wipe-on polly and it turned out great.............James
Just got it done James, opened a new bottle of CA and put 2 super coats on,then sanded carefully in a circular motion with 220 grit. Was careful to not get thru the CA. Think its gona work this time!!
Hope it does, goin elk huntin this week and want to ship it to piggyland!
Man Kenny are you antsy to get elk hunting? No one can stand me at work. I want to be there now!!!!!!!
