Title: Lifting Grain on Osage Selfbow
Post by: spsrodco on August 12, 2010, 10:26:00 PM
Short of backing it, does anyone know of a fix for grain lifting around pins on an osage selfbow?  I am looking at bringing a bow I made about 15 years ago out of retirement.  The reason it was retired was because of the grain lifting and checking around numerous pin knots on the back of the bow.  I initially reburnished it and applied an epoxy patch about the size of a nickel at the spots.  I held for some time but not for that long.
Thanks in advance, Sean

Sinew wrap probably or back it with rawhide.

Sinew wrap or serving thread wrap soaked in epoxy or superglue.
