Title: Counter sink bit?
Post by: Apex Predator on August 04, 2010, 01:52:00 PM
I'm trying to find a self centering counter sink bit for counter-sinking limb bolt heads in a phenolic pad, instead of using the bezels and washers.  I used one I bought at Lowes on the last one, but it wasn't the right degree bevel, and it cut like crap.  I need to find one that is less than 90 deg with a 5/16" guide built into the bit.  The bolt head is 5/8" across, and I'm guessing the bevel needs to be around 75 degrees.  Anyone know what these pros use?

#2739A66     Anti-Vibration Thru-Hole Countersink 82 Deg Piloted, 5/16"- 41/64" Hole Dia, 3/8" Shank  $14.55

A fella on another site turned me onto this.  Just what I needed, in case anyone is interested.  I will cap my limb butt with phenolic and counter sink into that to mount my limb bolts flush.  I did it on my first take down, but didn't have the proper bit.  This should make it just right.
