Title: Pecon and osage
Post by: eric101 on July 24, 2010, 09:11:00 PM
I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried pecan backed Osage and if so how does it work together.I traded bobcat earlier in the summer for a hickory backed blood wood that i finished and it turned out pretty good for my first attempt and i"m wanting to try another and this is what I'm wanting to try but i need some input. Thanks Eric.

im sure it would be a decent combo, if memory serves me right pecan is similar to hickory. try the search feature for pecan i think there have been a few posts using it.

I have made a couple of R&D osage with pecan backing. Makes a good bow. Pecan is in the hickory family. I can't tell the difference in a bow. Don

I think it depends on the area of the country you are in lol.  Pecan one place, hickory another.

They're as closely related as double first cousins in Mississippi. Maybe closer.
