Title: Need arrow rest ideas for a self bow
Post by: Stiks-n-Strings on July 24, 2010, 10:36:00 AM
I did a hardened leather rest on my last bow for the Bow Swap and I am in the process of finishing up a character bow.

I need some ideas for a rest. Floppy rest or a piece or antler or what.

Give me some input guys. I am gonna wrap the handle in beaver tail and put beaver tail ove the tip overlays and a beaver tail side plate I was thinking a beaver tail floppy rest.

I need somebody to tell me how to do a floppy rest.

Stiks

P.S. Pics to come in a tiller post

Ummm, Ferret had a floppy rest with a strip of leather about 1/2" wide. Apply glue to an inch in the middle of the back and fold, then straiten the ends to a right angle to the glued portion and put the lower end under the handle wrap and glue the upper end to the side of the bow.

That is off memory, so may not be 100 % correct! LOL

Thick leather or thin leather layered with super glue. Once dry the laether and glue can be worked with a file just like wood.
