I was reading on the net about riser's exploding on 3pc takedowns and one suggestion was to dry your riser wood before you glue up when using accent stripes. This was said that using glass was stronger than micarta but the wood would dry over time and pull away from the glass on the edges.
Even if your accents are wood should you put your riser wood in your hot box over nite just to make sure? Any thoughts on this?
Thanks Terry
I do. If its kiln dried, I only dry for a couple hours before. But if its air dryed, Ill do a couple days or so. Air drying will only get down to about 13 percent. Mark
I guess air drying would depend on the amount of humidity in your area. We might be wise to use a moisture meter, don't want to over dry either. I am fortunate in that here in New Mexico we don't have to worry about humidity to often.
