Title: Mahogany Bows
Post by: Dublin Joe on July 21, 2010, 08:39:00 PM
Hey, guys, I've got a stash of about ten mahogany boards, all approx. 1"x3"x8'.

Does anyone think it's fit for bows?

Mahog is straight grained, consistent but it is pretty brittle.  I have made a small kids bow from one once and I backed it with a brown paper bag and it worked fine.  I think if you try a higher poundage bow it might be trouble.

I'm thinking it will be better used in stuff that just sits there.

Thanks for the feedback.

I made some arrows out of mahogany while back, they came out pretty good, nice and straight.
