Got the bow finished. It took me a few hours figuring out fade issues but she came out. Finished product is 49lbs @ 28". Shot a few arrows out of it and they fly very well. Hopefully this beauty will be able to kill an animal of sorts soon. Just have to find out what I want to put on the shelf. I can say that without the help and wealth of knowledge from this site I don't know if I would have figured this out. Thanks all!

congrats on a fine bow!
Beautiful! Should kill an animal with no trouble. I love red oak boards!
Good job! I like it!!!!!
Beautiful finish. What'd you use?
Deft gloss in a spray can. 4 coats worked for me. Sprayed waited 15 minutes, steel wool, repeated.
looks great glad it made it to finish for you. fades gave me some trouble at first but once you figure it out it becomes second nature. nowadays i cut mine on the bandsaw and finish with my belt sander, but have done just as many with a coping saw and rasp.
excellent! i use industrial strength velcro for the shelf. its super sticky and very quiet. you can find it at wally world. Great Job!
that really turned out nice, great job picking out the grain on that board, fades look good now, i really like how well you stain and finish, mine didn't look as good when i first built a few
depending on how that shoots, you might try radiusing that shelf a bit more
if you are gonna hunt with it put something over the shelf to quiet it, i have done the velco things like sulphur said, but now i like the looks of leather, i lay it over, trace it out, cut it with a razor (nicer edge than scissors, i also sand or file the leather edges down a bit) and superglue it on (don't saturate all the way through or it will be hard, and not quiet), and if you are not gonna use fur for your sring silencers, you can buy tarantulas or just use some fleece matl. i bought a square of matl, and just cut pieces about 3 x 4 inches, cut slits on the long side about 1/4 inch wide, almost all the way through, stopping just short of the middle. do both long sides so that the cuts match up in the middle and its ready.
Osage - you saying you like the bow is a huge ego boost. The best word picture I can equate it to is like Carlos Hathcock telling me great shot.
Loren - As for a rest I think I'm going to pull the velcro pen cap trick where you trim off the end of a pen cap and glue it under the velcro creating a radiused shaft. I'll do it on the shelf and the side. Had a guy show me with my black widow years ago and love it. I'll post pictures when I get around to it.
Looks great and you like the way it shoots. Doesn't get much better than that.
Good job! I'd like to see that rest.

ps I like seeing so many Arkansans on here.
bring it to mojam and shoot the clout shoot with it...
Haha if I find some time to finish it out before I come up I'll shoot it. I'll take pics when I make the shelf. If not I'll be working on it while I'm there at MoJam. Not sure if my buddy will be joining me or not. His son won his t-ball game tonight and they're in the league tournament and they play Thursday night. So either it will be a late Thursday entrance solo or early Friday arrival with a friend. I'll be sure to look you up when I get there Bob. I drive a red '06 chevy crew cab truck if you see me holler.
