Title: Flat Clear Finish for camoed Bow Limbs
Post by: ArrowCrester on July 01, 2010, 11:55:00 PM
I have just camoed the U/L limbs of a Fred Bear Kodiak T/D recurve................

It came out great, but now i want to seal it BUT want the finish to be FLAT, just like the limbs are now.( NON REFLECTIVE surface.)

What is the best product to use??

Thanks,

I use a quick spray of satin poly on all my hunting bows. I use Tru-Oil for a finish and it has a high gloss. The satin poly dulls it right out.

Pat B..

Are you talking about  satin Poly from Minwax ????

And does it go FLAT FLAT or does it have some sheen to it?

Bob, I use Defthane Clear Satin Polyurethane now but have used other satin polys all with the same dulling results. Do a test first to see if it is good for you. It has to dry before the "satin" really shows up. It is plenty flat enough for my hunting bows.

minwax makes a spar urithane that is very weather risistant and comes in a rattle can.

I only use the spray poly to cut the shine on my hunting bows. I get good enough protection from the Tru-Oil but it cures out with a high gloss. One quick spray of the satin poly really cuts that shine!
