Title: Check my tiller
Post by: Stiks-n-Strings on June 10, 2010, 08:16:00 PM
Bambo backed Jatoba. 62" 55# @ 28 I'm going for 50# after she's shot in.

I need some seasoned eyes to critique my tiller. I am at 55# at 28" right now. I think it looks pretty good considering this only my third bow but I"m not a seasoned vet like some of you fellers.

Lower limb is 1.5" shorter than top limb.

Braced at about 6"

Drawn to 28"

unstrung (I started out with about 3" reflex and ended up with about 1" sting follow)

Which side is the bottom limb? Perhaps the left?

possbily a little hingy and flat spot out of the fades to midlimb on the right limb. But it could be the contrast from the sun in the background.  That left limb to me looks spot on.  Nice circular tiller.

I sent you an email with a photo of the left limb overlaid on the right.  I can't upload pics right now.

The right limb bends quite a bit more than the left.  Give it 10 scrapes at a time until they match.

The right limb could bend a bit more near the handle.  Give it 10 scrapes there.

Double check tiller afterwards.  Make sure and exercise it 30 times every time you adjust tiller.  Have fun.

I think you mean the left limb needs to bend more at the handle. The right one looks, to me, like it bends a bit too much in the handle area and not enough near the last 12 inches or so. (could be the lighting though)

I'm glad you guys have good eyes because I can't see it in these pictures. The limb outside the view of the building is fine but the other... not so much. I can't add anything helpful other than get a better picture of the whole bow drawn.

God bless,Mudd
