Title: Shelf Question
Post by: tim roberts on June 03, 2010, 09:06:00 AM
This is in reguards to the selfbow that I posted about eariler.  Last night I put a piece of Bear Rug on the shelf, and the bow was a lot noisier, I am getting an arrow hitting the riser noise.  So I took the rug off and it went away.  I would like to have something on the shelf, as wood on wood is noisey when the bow is being drawn.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Just a thin piece of leather works well for the shelf and strikeplate

It sounds like you might need to adjust your nocking point on the string because the thickness of the rug threw off your tuning.  Did you try moving your nock up?

Haven't set a knock point yet, have been playing around with it.  Have been shooting with the knock at about 1/8-1/4 above center..........
