For Riser wood? We just had to cut one down at our ranch, was firewood by the time I noticed it, but pulled out a couple 18 inch x 6in pieces. Pretty looking orangish rose - logs seem to have a little weight to them. Just wondering if it was worth trying to save for a bow maker.
Roger, no experience with plum other than jelly and jam, but I would say yes.
In TBBI, Tim Baker made a bow from a plum limb. The fruit trees, such as apple and pear have been used as bow wood.
If I remmber Shaun from Iowa, made a fine bow from Pear. Go for it, and post pics when you do!

I made I nice self bow from a wild plum tree once. I still shoot it from time to time.
I hear there great for self bows! But not sure about for a riser.
If it'll make a self bow it'll make a riser but not vice versa.
