Title: Thoughts on profile?
Post by: SveinD on May 13, 2010, 07:24:00 AM
Been makin' this 53" ash bow with the kids at work and was wondering if you have any thoughts on where I go from here..
Looks like I have twist on the top limb when drawn, though I can probably work that out..

Any comments appreciated!

Is that as far as you plan to draw it?  If so, it looks pretty good.  Maybe get it bending a little more near the fadeouts.  Full draw might be a problem on that short of a bow.

Thats about as far as i planned for the draw (tops 20") as it is for kids 5-10 yrs  :)

But I'll work a bit near the fadeouts to get the tiller smoother! Thanks for the input Marty  :)

I've visited Oslo a couple of times while in the Navy.  I really enjoyed it!  Do you do any hunting over there?

Unfortunately hunting with a bow is not legal in Norway, all we can shoot is pikefish. I plan to do that very soon by the way ^^

Though with a 4 hour drive we can hunt hogs in Sweden! I'm most likely taking a hunters exam this fall, followed by IBEP bowhunting class.
Pics will most likely follow soon after  :)

When bowhunting is legal in Norway, any Tradgang visitors will of course be offered a place to camp!

Check the thickness from one side of the twisting limb to the other side. I'd bet one side is a bit thicker. It is a common problem when using a vise attached to a work table. This type of problem shows up at full draw but not necessarily at brace.
