Has anyone tried this before? I'm thinking of trying one with no fiberglass, but was wondering about the "recipe". I guess the part I'm wondering about is if I should use all parallel laminations since there's no fiberglass to help reinforce them, or should I go ahead and use parallels on the back and belly, and use tapers in the middle like usual.
Whaddya'll think?
Also, I don't have any pictures yet, but I have access to a waterjet at work, and I'm gonna try some -- different -- designs in riser blocks. If anyone is interested in trying something, let me know. Maybe we can work out something cool.

Never built one myself from all wood, but if it works under glass, then I see no reason why it wouldn't work under parallel wood lams.
I am thinking of making Bamboo backed Ipe core with Bamboo belly lam recurve, but don't know dimensions, when you find that recipe...do you think it would work with bamboo in place of the parallels?
ive thought about building one from board staves, saw one like this on here a while ago a first timer made and it turned out well.

I've tried 3 multi lamb parrallel all wood recurves, each progressively longer, using the best flat grained hickory I had on the backs, they all broke in tension, on the back. I would recommend using bamboo or a backing of some kind, the link you mentioned used sheet rock tape for backing, which is a fiberglass tape which is kind of thick and will show on the bow. If you want the wood to show through better you could use fiberglass cloth they sell in the automotive section,for fixing car bodies, and wet it on with a good slow cure clear epoxy. I've done this and got a nice clear almost invisible backing on wood bows. Just don't try it on the belly of the bow though does't work, it will crack badly.
Yeah, besides the one Walkabout shows, there was also a gentleman who posted an all Osage limbed bow, on a takedown handle.
Also check out Huntworthy Productions ad. They have bamboo and ipe, 3 piece bows. Look real Sweet!

not heard much about the bows themselves but theres also venom takedown bows theyre all wood no glass.no idea how youd begin to build one but it has been done with sucess. id wonder if the wood you get for lams would have good enough grain for it without any backing since theyre usually under glass.
Dutchwarbow has done some great build alongs on all wood recurves, you could get some good ideas by looking them up in the archives. He used all parrallel lambs and bo backing.
For about 60 dollars plus shipping Rudderbows has a three peice ipe core bamboo backed setup with a Hichory riser that I have been looking at for about 6 months. I think that Jim there even has plans and instructions for it.

Have you thought about at selfbow takedown? I can walk you through a selfbow recurve take down. Buy yourself a TD sleeve and fit them on your billets. Then fit the two ends of your bow together, take off some wood so you can steam the recurve in the limb tips, and tiller it out from there. Its really pretty easy.
