Post by: tawmio on May 08, 2010, 01:00:00 AM
Does anyone use any faster setting epoxy instead of smoothon for tip overlays?

I have tried SuperEpoxy from Locktite, but without success. It`s not strong enough. I use CA, SuperGlue... 10 sec = Finito lol

I have also had failure with Locktite. The 5 min epoxy from Harbor Freight has worked good for me.

I use Kwik-It.  It's a superglue type adhesive.  You can get it from 3 Rivers.

I have used this brand of superglue on my last 4 builds, so far no problems.  (http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt46/Robertfishes/gorillaglue1.jpg)

I've used 2 ton epoxy and super glue...but smooth on seems to sand much better and give me a nicer transition...so I stuck with smooth on.

I had a set overlays come off once with either super glue or hardware store type epoxy, I have just stuck with smooth on ever since.  It has never let me down, wonderful product in my opinion.

We used kwik-it also. It's held up great so far.
