Hey Gang,
I thought I'd post some pics of a bow I just finished for a good friend of mine. This is his first traditional bow so I hope it hooks him on this game.
It's 68", 60# @ 28". The limbs are black glass with actionboo core and the riser is gray actionwood with a maple accent strip. The limb tip overlays are black glass/maple/gray actionwood. It's backed with a pair of western diamondback skins from Mike Yancey. This was my first attempt at skinning a bow and thanks to the help on here and advice from Mike, I'm really pleased at how they turned out. I think this is the best bow I've made so far in terms of craftsmanship.
One thing that I'm a little disapointed in is that the gray actionwood riser turned a bit of a yellowish color after I applied a polyurathane finish. I know it wasn't anything in the polyurathane because it didn't change the colour of the maple accent strip, tip overlays, or the actionboo core. Anybody else ever have this occur with gray actionwood?
Anyway, he's going to pick it up tomorrow night. I hope he likes it (If not, I'll be happy to keep it.)

It looks great! Your friend is very lucky.
Looks to me that your buddy is pretty lucky. Nice look'n bow.
Looks very good. Your buddy should be very pleased. Skins look really good.
Excellent job. I have noticed variations in grey actionwood over different bows that I have seen and made. I have always finished mine with an epoxy finish and mine have always finished dark. I think you may be on to something thinking it is the poly, but I'm not sure.
Very nice bow!! Your bud will love it!
That is odd on the a-wood color, here is my bro's new one, finished with minwax helmsman spar urethane,it stayed almost black.

Nice bow! You did a great job
Apex - He does lift a lot of weights and makes me look like a blubbery slob. I thought 60# would be a little stout for him, being new to traditional archery, but he tried out my 60#er's before deciding what he wanted and he handled them well. So I made him what he wanted.
Swissbow - Sorry, he liked it and took it home with him this evening :)
Thanks for all the compliments everyone! I've got a real itch to make another one with skins for myself now. (But my 6 year old daughter said the skins make it look like something a "hillbilly" would shoot.)
John, I'm glad he liked it. Giving away something to someone and see the joy on his/her face is even better than receive.
