Title: Tried some stippling
Post by: snag on April 16, 2010, 02:28:00 PM
I had seen some bows with stippling on the grip and really liked it. So, I used a rounded grinding tip in the Foredom flexible shaft and went at it. Kind of scary at first. I did do some practicing on a 2X4 first. After awhile you kind of get a feel for it. I really like the way it feels in the hand most of all.

I didn't sand much on this area, leaving the ridges between the dimples a little sharp. That way when it was sprayed the finish rounded off the edges nicely yet left a good edge for gripping your hand. I'm happy with it for a first attempt. Not nearly as nice as some I've seen. Looking forward to doing this to the next bow though.

Thanks Osage. It was a little nerve-racking going after that grip with a high speed grinding tool! haha
