this one will have Honduran Rosewood veneers,a brown Actionwood riser, I using some red elm tapers, smooth on epoxy and clear glass from KennyM. I'm using my 58" (modified)Binghams form, target weight is 47lbs @ 28"
got bow in oven, got smooth on epoxy on my fore arm again...
ok, bows cooking nicely
hope yer auntie's ok...BUT MAN DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE BOW IN THE OVEN!
seriously tho, hopefully she's cool.
more seriously, do post pics (bow, not auntie)
Thanks, she was fine when I left at 12:30am.. this is the second time this has happened in the last year...I put 71 psi in the firehose last night, checked it after 10 minutes, set the oven timer for 5 hours...checked it at 12:45 last night, the oven was 166 degrees..pulled it out of oven this morning, it was cool to the touch, still had 65psi in hose, the bow came out of the form nicely and I sanded the extra epoxy off of the blank, I peeled off the belly tape and was very pleased with the Honduran Rosewood...and I made it to work on time this morning.
Pics, pics, pics
didn't take any good pics, this is a pic of the belly, the better looking lams are on the back.. (http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt46/Robertfishes/7bow2.jpg)
Robert I have went to using continous air on my firehose, i lost pressure a couple of times and that is a pisser. turn your compressor regulator to the pressure you want and leave the compressor hooked to the firehose and leave the compressor on. As long as you don't loose power it will be exactly the way you set it.
ok, got limbs shaped, cut some quick nocks and strung it up..1/16" positive tiller, gotta luv that, so far, so good...pic is of back veneer (http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt46/Robertfishes/7bow3.jpg) (http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt46/Robertfishes/7bow4.jpg)
nice work, can't wait to see it finished.
ocala florida eh? i used to live down there, for 6 months. every day at 4pm it rained for 2 hours. could set your watch by that rain.
Pat, I should do that too. After putting form in oven I check pressure after 15 minutes and again after another 10 minutes..I lose about 2 psi of pressure doing this, I usally pump hose to 65psi but I went 71 for this one since the veneers seemed to soak up the smooth on, it looks great, no bubbles under the glass. taking a break for a few days, will finish weds nite next week..then I am going to glue up 4 risers.. got some red, black and white core tuff yesterday.
Looks great, good job. Glad to hear your aunt is ok too.
Robert, what bandsaw blade are you using? Also there is a traditional shoot in Jacksonville next weekend at North Fl Archers you and Helen should come.
pd, I am still using that carbide blade I got last year from bandsawbladesinc in Ocala.
Don't think we can make the Jax shoot, We have been there twice before and it is an awesome shoot. We might make it to Jax Saturday but not both days..
almost done with this one.. (http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt46/Robertfishes/bow7a.jpg)
