Title: holmgaard string question
Post by: stringstretcher on March 21, 2010, 01:42:00 PM
How much shorter than the NTN do you make your string for a holmgaard bow design?  With the low string angle, what is a  good starting brace for these type bows?

Charles, I would start with around 3" shorter. If you have a tillering string with a bowyers knot, you can find a length that works with that.

I have a Stone Age, Elm,Meare Heath style bow built by Paul Comstock. It is 66" ntn and the string length is 63.5" long and is F.F., just measured to check.
