Title: Hickory Board Bow specs?
Post by: JGoemaat on March 16, 2010, 09:48:00 AM
Gentlemen,

My buddy and I have started our second bow building project. We are both doing hickory backed hickory board bows.

His bow specs he's shooting for is 60lbs at 25 1/2", and 2" wide at the fades, using a pyramid flatbow design of 61" in length.

My specs I'm shooting for are 64" flat bow shooting 60lbs at 28",
1 3/4" wide at the fades using a pyramid flatbow design.

We are both wondering what a recommend limb thickness to cut would be. I figured a 1/2", hows that sound? Hopefully this post and question will help someone else out with plans for this type of bow. In the future a post filled with specs on different bows would be really neat, just a thought. Thanks

I'd make both about 4" longer.  Make them 5/8" thick to start.
