Hey guys i'm getting ready to make my next one piece longbow and wanted to use some curly maple i had laying around. I have enough to do the limbs and riser just wanted to get some opinions or pics of what woods would go well with the maple?
Thanks
Adam
Something dark always looks nice..cocobolo and wenge are two of my favorites. Post some pictures, and good luck!
Any rosewood, ebony, even osage
i like bocote
I build one for the wife that is maple with a cocobolo lam in the riser and bubinga core with tiger maple for the veneers. I dont have any pics but it looks good.
Cobbow
Cocobolo is definitely a very good option. A friend of mine just glued up a bow with cocobolo and I can tell you it sure looks nice.

Here's one I made a couple years ago. Curly maple, a thin strip of black glass, and paduak. The limbs were also curly maple dyed to match the paduak with an actionboo core.

my favorite wood to go with curly maple is cocobolo...second is a dark wood like wenge or east indian rosewood
