Title: glass: back vs belly for recurve
Post by: Teagus on February 07, 2010, 02:31:00 PM
I need .070 glass total on a recurve project. Which side is best for .030 and the .040? My guess is .030 on the belly due to compression. I thought this was mentioned in a recent post and have been searching all morning. Finally gave up but started bookmarking to a folder in favorites.

You want more glass on the belly.  A lot of wood is more elastic in tension (back) than compression (belly).

Thanks Jason,
I'll give it a try your way. Guessing that thicker belly glass would act like a compression spring.
