Does anyone have a thickness sander they would sell or have plans so I could make me something that will do the same as a thickness sander.
Tyler,
Do a search for thickness sander on this site there are some very good ideas for making your own as for buying one I just bought a like new jet 10-20 for 450 off craigs list this as i can see is the cheapest way to get into one.
Good luck, I deciced to buy one but thats because I didnt have a sander to build one.
Chad
Tyler,
How wide are the pieces you want sanded?
pete
1-1/2 and 2 inches
Any one of the lam grinders will work for that. I just built one using a rigid oscilating sander as the base. I still have the first one I built out of an old washing machine motor. Search the site and you will find some designs. HEre are pics of the two I built. The Lam grinder thread that is going now has a nice adaptation to it.

Check out Micro-Mark tools. They have a neet little thickness sander that will 5" wide x 1/2" thick for about $200 new www.micromark.com (http://www.micromark.com)
Here's another one if you already have a drill press. I had found these when trying to find something to grind veneers. No reason they wouldnt work as a thickness sander.
