Title: 68 " Longbow r/d
Post by: Tyler Langston on January 09, 2010, 07:56:00 PM
I am building a 68" Longbow r/d style and am wondering what the weight is going to be around. I am using Binghams design. With 3 layers of osage taper, 1 core lam, and 2 fiberglass strips.
3-tapers .002 per inch - .050"
core lam- .035"
2- fiberglass- .035"

Total bow is
At middle - .408"
At mid limb - .308"
At tips - .205"
About how much will this bow be pulling at 28" draw

Tyler, I would email Binghams this info, they would tell you right away and have a much better guess than me (since its their form).

Also ask them about their recomended taper rate on the R/D form.

But, my guess is 42#

I just pulled one off a mild R/D form very similar to the Binghams design.
Lay up was
Back
.050 glass
.035 vaneer
.120 @ .002 per inch
.120 @ .002 per inch
.050 parallel
.050 glass
Belly
Total  .425
18" riser fade to fade

68" came it at 64 @ 28
