Why is it that everyone here has a shop and i got a 10' by 15' square spot in my garage...
I feel your pain Brokeanotherone....but one of these days!
Gezze Dano, ya need some Osage dust on that floor:) My video was when it was first completed, it's a little bit dusty in there now:)
I used to make Bows in the basement of our house. We have logs on the walls and black walnut hardwood floors. Any idea how much Osage dust found it's way upstairs? The wife never complained, but she gave me a few shots now and then. When I said I wanted to build a bow shop outside, she was all for it:)
Wow Nice Dano. Beautiful
Here are a few pics of my shop in my basement. Unlike Dano and Roy, my shop is used! d;^) This is in one half of the basement and the other side, where I do glue-ups and my leather work is clean(er).
Dano, is that one of Bernie's Dinosaurs? Haven't seen much of Bernie lately.

I like it Pat:)
Pat that would drive me crazy, I clean my shop everyday, yep I'm sick :bigsmyl:
I wish I had a shop like those! Mine is an 8 x 10 bedroom on the first floor! SPACE is my final frontier!

these two pics show most everything. Tools are pulled out in to the center of the floor or put on my work bench as needed. I do have a shed where I keep my table saw. I have to use it outside.
pete
Been there done that Pete, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Some great helpers ya got there too.
Nice shops. I'm in the process of finishing my workshop now...bout 13X19, in the basement.
Dano, as clean as that shop is you gotta do something about the rat sitting there :goldtooth:

Dano,
My wife and I have talked about digging a basement under the house by hand! I think that it would put a damper on the bow building for quite some time though!
Clean looking Osage Joe, ya have any idea where a Pa boy could get some of that?
Ok you did it, I have to clean the shop. Darn. If this thread is still alive maybe a pic or 5. Jim
ahh yes. radio control. yet another demon to occupy my thoughts and pocket book!
I once told someone that you can never have too big of a shop. I have been both wrong and right in that statement. If you are just storing things in it and utilize ocasionally, big is fantastic.
I converted my wifes horse barn into a bow shop and got too busy to finish insulating it. It is now too big and expensive to air condition or heat. My wife has somewhat grown used to the idea and helps me clean it (or I should say cleans it for me). Even though the shop is big though, (24x70) there is never enough wall space for shelves and racks and such.
Oh well, I've never had enough time to build and organize anyway.
BigJim
What I like to do now and then is tour the New Yankee workshop online, to get ideas. Now there's a shop to die for ;)
Sorry Roy, that picture is about 5 years old. None of that sage left but, the building is still the same 12' X 12".
Dano, I prefer the woodrights shop!
Yep, The Woodwrights shop would do it all for us. Woodworking tools for bows and shafts then over to the blacksmith section to forge the arrowheads...
Here is my shop. It is not as clean as Dano's. I guess that is why I can never find stuff.

Mine is more like Pats. I like it Enough said.
Real nice shop Bill, that's the way I want mine to look like once I get it broke in.
I am jealous. My bow shop is in the basement of my 100 year old house. I have my workbench positioned just right so my head doesn't hit my hand hewn timber floor joists. When I'm working in the spring time or after a heavy rain I have to where my rubber boots down there.
Some dinky racks on the wall there Peckerwood:)
Roy ,
Them are my Pa. mountain buck trophies ! Some day , when the deer become totally extinct , they will be a collectors item.
The good stuff is in the house.
Bill
Nice finishing station I see back there Bill.
LOL Bill, I understand.
Deer are practically extinct in my area of the state!
I don't really have a shop so much as a small space in my garage, but it has everything I need to build selfbows. (http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss13/dvshunter/CIMG0124.jpg)
even has some split today osage I'm gonna work on soon as the stove heats up and the baby goes to bed
I am in the process of building my new shop. We had a pole barn built. The front is going to be a garage, but I am sectioning off the back 8' or so. My shop will be 8x24'. Just got a price locked in for concrete come March. I can't wait.
My bow building bench. To the left I have another bench for arrow building. Just to the right of the picture is a row of power tools.

Not a lot of room but I have to share with my wife's Baby. She hates it when I cover it with yellow dust.
Jack, just tell her the tannin in the dust is a good preservitive. Great for the paint, tires and interior!
Whoa...!
That's yer Wife's car...? NICE.
I had to look twice for the car. I was admiring the shoot through carp reel!
Nice Ride!
I double dog dare you to sand down a piece of wood, let the dust settle, and then write your name on the hood!
:bigsmyl:
pete
Osagetree I like the sound of that but she wont go for it made me buy a cover for the car.
Yes Paul its hers, gave it to her for our 25th wedding aniversary, any woman who stays with a trad hunter that long deserves something nice.
First arrow that is my favorite bow fishing set-up have tried others nothing has worked better for me than this shoot thru reel.
Pete I want to live to see my next hunting season.
Jack, you need to remember these two words.
YES DEAR:) LOL
I always say that to my wife to agree with her. But I have a great wife and we get along super well. She even shoot's a stickbow I made for her..
Well, here it is. It's not compeltely finished yet but it is usable. 18x20 just seemed so big to start with....

wow nice job. did you frame it yourself?i like the use of the t111. gives the rustic look with out the maintanance that lap siding requires, also not as pricey.ive been a framing carpenter for 20 yrs,i appreciate your work
No, I have zero carpentry experience so got the pros to do the framing. Finished the inside myself that way everyone who walks in will know I have still have zero carpentry experience.
I am kind of smug about the wiring though, I do have a LITTLE bit of experience with that so it turned out ok. And by ok I mean no electricutions and the building is still standing. My buddy did get a bit of a buzz when we were putting the wall sheeting up, wrapped his fingers too far around the outlet when pushing it back in the box. :jumper:
Your going to be sorry if you don't paint them walls and ceiling, it will help with lighting. I like it Lonnie, looks like a good shop. How are you going to heat it?
Nice shop skeaterbait. But I am with Dano, if you paint it bright white, the lighting will be so much better. What's a few gallon of paint compared to the money you already invested.. Another suggestion, your air cleaner in the ceiling, should be set at an angle across a corner of the room. The air will bounce off the walls and circulate better around the room.
Like this Lonnie. The instructions which came with my air cleaner showed to mount it like this. Or if that is a heater, I apologize.

Not sure why everyone keeps saying Dano's shop looks so clean. Looks like it is infested with bloody big rats to me. Did you import that thing from NY City or something.
Would be great if Dano forgot his hat out there some night, and them rat's chewed a hole in it:)
Yikes! That thing is huge. Makes me wonder if Dano didn't just post a pic from a trail cam he has set-up in his shop.
If not that is one bold rodent.
Boy's that's my little buddy, he watches the shop for me. :bigsmyl: He doubles as a target too.
And ya can't hit him Dano? :)

I may end up painting but first I need to get my garage back in order so I can put my truck in before we get anymore snow. Then come spring time I have to get the outside painted. Sadly we were already in the bad weather before the guy had it done so I didn't get to paint or put the gutters on.
The heat is a combo heat/AC unit from Lowes. It's rated for 640 sq ft and does a real nice job on my 360 ft.
I am looking forward to getting setup and started on a lam bow, I haven't done one of those yet.
Dano how can you work in that shop!i couldnt fined anything in there. If its not piled on top of my work bench or in the floor some whare i consider it lost.LOL!
