Title: new form with improvments "dinosaur hunter sr"
Post by: Russell S. on December 25, 2009, 10:37:00 PM
Unwrapping a bow off the form is like Christmas,  wait it is Christmas!!!

this is my most recent new and improved form.  it is limb at once,  13 degrees of deflex out of the riser.  Strait (no curve) from there for 15", then reflexed about 2 inches at 64"  the form accommodates a 12" 0.010 taper power lam.  this bow also has 6" 0.010 tip wedges ending at 64" (thanks for the tip kenny worked like a champ).  i am going to cut the bow to 62".   Total stack minus the wedges is 0.320 it looked right thin.  this bow is a gift for one of my wife's friends who has no skill (or a bow stringer) it is going to hurt to send off that coco/walnut riser...  i have a coco and rosewood riser for mine off this form.  I will have a better guess on the weight that for mine!!
i am up to 6 forms. including a 36" and 48" D/R kids bow.

those big aluminum guide ears with wing nuts and bolts are far easier and more solid then eccentric washers.

here is the strung and drawn profile.  in retrospect i think a 0.001 or 0.002 taper would have been better.  it still has a good string angle at 29"  topped my 50# scale at about 27"  so it is right where it needs to be.  goal is 50# at 28"  it is 62" NTN  i think i will add a taper to mine to get it bending a bit further out of the fades, i don't think a longer power lam is going to help the limb at about 1/2-2/3   tips look like i wanted them to.  they are almost static.  i add a 4" piece of taped glass when i put the tips on.  what do you guys think of the profile?

thanks Hermann!  i put 2 arrows of it, to see how it drew and how shocky it would be.  it is not dead but it isn't bad..  it is an even tiller so i am going to pick a limb and take a bit more off the profile to get it a bit positive.
