Title: Backing Idea?
Post by: DLH on December 21, 2009, 04:25:00 PM
Could strands of baler twine be used as a backing?

Never tried that before.  I like the idea.  I have used burlap with great success. I would break the twine down to fine groups of fibers rather than leaving it all twisted.  If you soften it and soak it in glue just like you were doing a sinew back bow it might even have the look.    If you decide to give it a whirl make sure it is clean.  Photo document the process and keep us up to date!

good luck!

Would this be a good idea to try on a board bow or would it really matter?

Interesting idea, what type of glue would you use?

I haven't the slightest idea I'm new at this but I think the twine is made of nylon I was thinking maybe Titebond II or III?
