Title: Bear Bow
Post by: Seadiver on December 16, 2009, 11:58:00 PM
I have a Golden Bear recurve bow. The upper string notch (separate part of bow) broke. I have contacted Bear Bows in Florida, but they have discontinued this model and no longer have replacement parts. Do you have any suggestion?

My first bow was a Golden Bear many moons ago.  I think mine had plastic tips.  I removed the broken piece and filed a string groove right into the fiberglass.  Worked fine enough for an 8 year old.  :)

the string notch is a plastic cap, with the grooves for the string, glued onto the tip of the bow . how do you attach or show photos to a post?  thanks for any help.

If you have the pc that came off,you could glue it back on. If it broke, like Marty said you could take the other one off and file nocks an inch shorter on both ends. If it is over 25#s , I would add a tip overlay.

Good luck
Kenny
