Title: getting back in the mood - ABA kidsbow
Post by: dutchwarbow on December 16, 2009, 05:23:00 PM
Guys,

you've probably already forgotten me, but I haven't forgotten you guys!!! yet I must admit I have barely done something like bowmaking in the last 3 months.

a bit more than 3 months ago my handhelt, yet powerfull beltsander broke down. It was THE tool I used for my bbb's. So I quit my running project, and started looking at selfbows again. But the weather got worse and worse, typical for the netherlands. As you probably know, I'm always working outside; there's no room inside.

a few weeks later I met an amazing girl, and I fell in love. So I must honestly admit that I didn't really miss the bows

lately I've gotten pretty used to having a girlfriend, and I wanted to spend some time on bowmaking again. I had a simple ash-backed ash blank wich should become a kidsbow, so I started working on it. here are a few pictures, hope you like it!

Ash can sure look good can't it?? I used the most figured stuff I had for the belly... and the straightest stuff for the back.

max. width is  31/32",
length is 61" ntn
draws 25#@22"

Not too much, and no additional pics will come as I accidently sold this bow. Not that I'm unhappy with it! not at all      :)

well, with two weeks of christmas holidays coming... let's say I'm glad I'm back!!

kinda missed you guys      ;)

Greetings from The Netherlands!

Nick

Welcome back, Nick!  Nice bow.  Girls have a strange way of capturing your attention, huh?  We as men can only think about one thing at one time, can't we?

P.S.   Since you like those 100# gut-busting war bows, I was picturing your "kids bow" being something like 60-70#.    :biglaugh:

We all missed you Nick!

You don't need to worry about no stinken girl man!  You got your whole life for such non-sense!  :)   We've all been there buddy.

Don't give up the bowyering, because it will never leave you.  It may break your heart over, and over, but the make ups are fun.

Nick, I joined slightly after you vanished so till now i have not got a chance to thank you for all your build along's i have learned a lot from your post and got a lot of motivation.  Your tool use convinced me i had enough to get started when i didn't have much.  Thanks to the classifieds, i have acquired quite a few tools however i still look back at your build along's from time to time for ideas.  one of these days i am going to take on the BBI  so welcome back, thank you, and Congrads on the girl and now you have a reason to build a lighter bow, she is going to need something to shoot after all!

Welcome back Nick. Figured you either got behind in school or met a girl.  ;)

My advice is to get that girl shooting a bow pronto!

Hey Guys!!

thanks for your kind words, all  ;)  I've been away for far too long!!

I'm playing with some new (revolutionary) thoughts for all-wood composites.

a bit of foreplay:

Imma play around with it and take some pics  :)
