I was wandering how yall get the joints so tight when you but the ends of the lams together.
I would like to buld a bow without putting a leater rap on it but my joints arent that good. What do I need to do?
Thanks for and input.
Glue them together before you lay up the bow.
I'm no pro though.....
What kind of glue?
I use smooth on for the glue up do you use that or just some super glue?
Do you mitter the ends or just but them?
super glue works fine. Just make sure you bevel the ends so it can flex.
Somewhere in this thread is how I do it,may not be the right or best way,but I have pics!! LOL

Look on page 2.....
No pro here either!!
I humbly submit my 2 cents worth. I use smooth on after I grind about a 45 degree angle to the butt ends, I did try super glue but if the "dip" in the form is severe the joint broke as soon as pressure was applied.
i found with super glue i needed more like a 20 degree angle so there is lots of contact... with 45 deg they kept popping apart on me! i use a board clamped to my disc sander, then run both lams on to the disk to get the tapper.
Kenny's way is very strong and when finished most of the time it just disappears.
Thanks guys
Kenny that is a great build a long. ? fro ya
The overlays on the back of the riser are they for looks of strength?
Thanks agine
Thanks!
They help in strength, but with the riser lammed, probably not needed.
Also helps to keep glass width up on the back(also helps with strength) when you round over the grip area.
