Title: De-lam
Post by: BUCK-EYE on December 02, 2009, 06:11:00 PM
A friend of mine gave a reverse riser recuve. Has all the glue knock off of it. When I got it home I noticed that the bottom limb lams had start to come apart a little. There is a total of three lams. I was wondering if I took some smooth on and place between the lams and put a c clamp on it if that would do the trick? It`s about 7 inch`s away from the bottom string grove.
What do you think will it hold?

Super glue if it ain't real bad. Use the thin stuff, Not the gel. let it run in and tap on it to get the air bubbles out and clamp it and let it sit over night.
I fixed a bear recurve with superglue that I dropped a stand on and it split the glass about midlimb 1/8" from the edge and to the core. The guys here told me it would work and they were right on cause I still shoot it and hunted with it this year.
Good luck, Kris

Yeah, I would try to clean the lams as good as I could and get some smooth on in there and clamp it up, not too tightly tho.

The water thin cyanoacrylate should fix it just fine.  If it is a small seperation you can clamp it tight, lay it on it's side, run a bead of glue along the edge, and let the thin glue draw itself into the delam area.  If it is a little larger put some in the gap first, clamp it up, and maybe a second application that you let draw into the crack.  Be sure to protect the end of the clamps from the glue or you'll stick 'em right to the bow.  Like Stiks-n-strings said it works very well, and I've never had one come apart after doing this way.  Good luck.
