I've just picked up some .040" clear glass(1.5" wide), and was wondering how many of you use it for longbows? I've used .050" in the past. I know I can increase the wood core thickness to make up the diff. in weight but are there any problems using thinner glass on both sides of the bow? I basically make a mild r-d longbow similar to a Great Northern Critter Gitter. I'm thinking it would be ok but maybe it would be weaker in compression. I only shoot 50#'s. Thanks in advance. Rob
Not a problem. You will probably gain speed once you figure out your new stack.
I eclusively use .040, it works well on both 'curve and longbows. I started putting it on recurves so the tips wouldn't haver as much tension on them but to simplify my orders i just went to .040 and if I need it thinner I take off .010 on my drumsander. (yes, dust collection and replaceable cartridge mask as well)
