Title: belly thickness
Post by: bubby on August 28, 2009, 04:30:00 PM
built a hickory backed hickory r/d bow, 62" 50# @ 29", but  started with the belly way thick so there was a ton of tillering. I'm now starting a hickory backed peruvian walnut bow of the same design and wanted to be closer to proper belly thickness. The other bow  was 1 1/2"w, last 10" taper to 3/8". Any help is appreciated

You just have to go by feel, maybe 5/8 at the fades to 3/8 at thetips ?
