not long ago I found this bow somewhere between my staves, broken bows, and mess. I wiped the dust off it and recognized it as my first 'heavy!!' bow. Heavy ment 57#@28" by then. at my actual 'target' drawlength of 29" it draws a nice 60#.
this bow started as a cherokee-replica bow from an ash board, then I narrowed the handle, piked it, and made it looking a bit more like a choktaw bow. With it's ugly floppy, blue-cordage wrapped handle and rasp marks still around, it's one hell of an ugly bow. The wide tips provide some handshock, but I didn't mind by then.
I made it 4 years ago, I was twelve by then. This was my 4th bow I had made, and I was very proud of it ;)

(no unstrung picture, sorry)
Nick
Don't see many that good built by a 12 year old. Fantastic job, and thanks for sharing.
it's great...are the edges rounded over? it looks like a rectangle
Nick thats a lightbow. Show you heavyier bow. Marlon
thanks Marty!
vanislebowyer; the edges aren't really rounded. There are lots of things I would've done different today. Including the rounding of the edges, but also create a more fluent taper, a better handle, and a better finish with less toolmarks, hehe ;)
Marlon, here you go. 130#@32"
