Will Bocote work for a limb wood or is it only for veneers over a core wood? If it will work how does it perform compared to other limb woods?
Thanks Travis
I use bocote quite a bit in limbs. Only for the veneers. less than .004. Looks great and works fine.
I'm with Bob! Looks great, but a bit heavy unless used for veneers.
i don't know. i have made a few with fairly thick lams (.080 x 2 ) in a one piece recurve and in r/d longbows. never noticed a loss in performance. although its obvious i don't have as much experience as kenny and bob.

I've made both longbows and T/D recurves with Bocote cores and they shot pretty well. One T/D in particular shot very nice.
Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to go with maple.
