I am investigating making my 1st self bow. There are 2 large chestnut trees on out property and one has a large straight limb that must come off. Is chestnut an acceptable bow wood??? Thanks and be safe! Desperado
Chestnut has a specific gravity of .43. In this list of bow woods (http://onemississipp.googlepages.com/bowwoods) , it is listed as a non-bow wood.
You could probably make a bow from chestnut but there are better options out there.
NOT A GOOD FISRT BOW WOOD.
Thanks for the advice...I will forget about using the chestnut...Be safe...Desperado
That web site is exactly what I have been looking for. Great reference, Focusource.
