Just thought I would share a little form I just built. I like to cook laminated risers and overlays in my kitchen oven. At the lowest setting of 170 deg, I am actually getting 185 deg. This way when I am laminating these into, or onto the bow at a lower temp of 150-160 degrees I don't have to worry about getting them too hot.
I typically build an overlay piece 14" long and 1 1/2" wide, so that I can cut off my 11" riser piece and still have 3" that can be split down the middle for tip overlays. I like to cut a piece of wood matching the riser which is about 3/16" thick and laminate that to a piece of colored glass for an accent.
In the past I have just clamped the overlay to the work bench and used lights for heat. This works, but it's a pain in the but to position the lights for the proper coverage and they need to be adjusted frequently for temp.
I have also built a hanging light system that is used for laminating the overlays on the bow. It is stored hanging from the ceiling. I will take some photos of that next time.
This is my brainchild. After wrapping the whole thing in plastic wrap, I cut slits for the clamps. This whole thing goes into the house oven.
