Ok, got my stave shaped out pretty well and starting the floor tiller process. My question is, how much bend should I get before I go to the tree? I can only bend the limbs about 1-2 inches so far on the floor.
I usually try to get it to about 4" making sure that both limbs are bending evenly and somewhat similar. Then I go to a long string until the limbs bend to about 6" and if everything is OK I'll low brace the bow to about$". At this point you should be able to tell how things are lining up. Pat
That's worthwhile scoop, in plain language, Pat. You are one of my major fountains of common sense knowlege.
Here's some floor tillering pics. Jawge

As soon as I see ben in my limbs.I rasp each limb good and and then i'll start tillering with leather caps that just go over the wooden tips of my bow.Later after I get a little closer I'll file in my nocks and use a long string. But remember as soon as it beens.Never pull over your intended weight.Exture stress on your limbs you non't want.It will help cause string follow.
