Title: Dark drop point
Post by: srtben on September 14, 2013, 08:42:00 PM
It has been a while since I made any hunters, and I figured now is the season so..
This one has a dark antiqued blade (there is a hamon hiding in there too) and some of my stabilized curly Bastogne walnut. Pictures don't do this wood justice! It has a tapered tang and is balanced quite nicely. I made a heavy duty hand stitched leather sheath for it as well.
The steel is 1095.

Thanks for looking!

WOW, a fantastic looking hunter!  I'd say the perfect size.  I love those pins!

Very nice.  What are the dimensions and what are the pins made of?  I really like that finish on the blade.  Keep em comin.

Thanks guys.
The OAL is 8 5/8", with a 4" blade. The pins are carbon fiber.
Scott, this one sold about 5 mins ago.  :)

I do have a slightly bigger one I need to finish up though.

Boy, there isn't a think I would change about that knife.  I'd be proud to hang that one from my belt.  GREAT job as usual!  :)

Ben, could you give us a little info on your blade exterior?
Is it just a stain/oxide of the surface or an actual coating?
I do like the appearance of it.

I would say that is pretty close to perfect! Is it flat grind? Do you work with others steels too, like A2?

Thanks guys!

Karl, it is just media blasted and then cold blued.
You could probably do the same with your hot blue setup.

If I had the space, I would probably setup to parkerize blades.
