Thanks, I have some more of that board of Myrtle, but have to carefully cut to get the most figure out of it.
If you don't quit mak'in Them so pretty I am going to have to buy one.and believe me I don't need any more knives.LOL>

She is a looker for sure!
Thanks again, looks good, cuts better!!
Very cool Matt. Someday I'd love to get one just like that from you. Nice work as always!
Wow, love it. That myrtle is awesome, reminds me of some golden koa.
debating on wether to sell it or swap it for a bow by a real good bowyer I know.
Beautiful. I love the way you hamons show up. Thanks for sharing.
Chris
Great looking blade, and I really like that myrtle.
I've been trying to make a trade for a bow but haven't found any takers yet. :( Don't have the money right now so that's the only way I could get one anytime soon. Gonna try to sell a few knives to save up and get one next year.
Man, that is nice!!!
A very well known and respected bowyer asked me to make him a Bowie a while back, and although I need the cash now... I decided to trade this one to him. I kinda used the Myrtle with him in mind anyway!
Matt, that is really something to behold! I will echo the others, your hamons are a thing of beauty!
Typically how long does that process take you for a large knife?
I say make the swap, he needs that knife! And you would love a new bow!

The actual claying of the blade and heat treat really doesn't take that long. Afterward I simply get a really good 600 grit hand sanded finish, etch, then hand polish. After the standard 600 grit finish, its only a few more hours. You can spend ALOT more time on polishing then that, but for using knives I only take the blade to a level that the hamon shows up well... those very highly refined polishes that go way up into the stratosphere into the 2000x+ grit, just don't hold up to use very well.
That's a toad, bud. Love that myrtle and Hamon
Thanks Ray, this one is going to Dick Robertson, had to wait for him to get back from Alaska to make sure it looked good to him.
Lamey have him build you a Wolfer takedown recurve and trade him the Bowie.
Very nice knife, and the Myrtle is awesome
That's a beauty Matt. Not much else can be said.
:campfire:
gonna make a matching "lightweight" hunter/utility to go with it.
