Title: '06 TX Sweat knife question
Post by: slow walker on July 21, 2013, 10:54:00 AM
I attended the '06 TX Sweat which Curtis Keller organized.  Great experience by the way.  While there I hunted some with a member of this forum who was a retired veterinarian.  Prior to the hunt, he had made a knife for me which I carried on that hunt.  My question is: Can anyone tell me this gentleman's name?  His knife has been admired by many and one of my friends would like him to make a similar knife for him.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure but it could be tippet, post a picture of the knife and you could probably get a better answer.

My sincere apology to all, especially Tippit.  Jeff did not make the knife for me.  It was made by a gentleman who used to manage a buffalo ranch in Montana as I recall.  I associated it with Jeff because he admired it while we were hunting together in '06, damn frustrating what the memory does as we get older LOL!  Hope I didn't embarrass anyone but myself.  I emailed Curtis to see if he might know the name and contact info of the maker......or perhaps someone here does?  Thanks to all!

Sorry, to all.  I attempted to post this yesterday, but it doesn't appear.  Jeff did not make the knife for me.  I associated it with him because we talked about it and he admired it on our hunt.  It was made by Doug Campbell, who manages Tom Brokaw's buffalo ranch in MT.  Curtis set me straight on this.  Again, sorry for the confusion.  Thanks to everyone.

Doug makes a good knife. His logo is a Grizzly Bear track encircled by an arrow.

Here is a picture of Doug in a cutting challenge this year. He put his knife through a serious set of challenges and it performed flawlessly. There was a large crowd observing which doesn't help the situation.  :scared:

I thought some of you knife crafters might like a pic or two of the knife Doug made for me:

"

"DC

"DC

The sheath is a "Nordic" style I had made.  I've since had another sheath made in a more traditional pattern.  I found that the Nordic sheath, carried "cross draw" would sometimes touch my bow which I carry in my left hand when walking, and make a noise.
