Post by: bculberson on April 14, 2013, 08:41:00 PM
I'm getting married next Saturday.  Here is the knife I made for the cake cutting:

The blade shape is Bowie inspired   ;)   Handle is stabilized figured walnut.  Orange G-10 liners.  Steel is 3/32" 52100.  Blade is 7 1/2" long tip to scales.  Small pins are stainless and bigger, middle pin is copper.

If that won't cut the cake, consumption of same is not recommended! Be happy forever!

Congratulations.  That should do nicely.  My wife and I are expecting our 3rd child this fall and since the first two were c sections, this one will have to be as well.  I told her that I wanted to build the doctor a knife to use for the surgery, but so far she won't agree to it.  I still have a few months to convince her though.  :D

I did hear about a guy once who wanted to build an umbilical cord cutting knife, but the doctor would have none of it.  This is the first I ever heard of a C section knife!
I can see there is lots of creativity on this board!

That's awesome!  It would make a great belt knife and camp chore knife.

You should match what your bride does.  She's gonna throw that garter out to the single women.  You can "throw" that beauty to the single men on here.  I happily volunteer to catch.....

I have a friend who's an anthropologist and archeologist. More importantly, he's a flint knapper. He has 6(I think) kids and each one had his/her own flint knife made which was used to cut the umbilical cord. They are also real works of art.

I like Nala's idea, but I haven't received a wedding invitation yet.

Nice work all the way around; walnut, blade and sheath.
