So I am actually most of the way done with this now, but I though I would share a few pics in different stages. This is the first real folder I have attempted, so there has been a huge learning curve.
The frame parts are all 6al4v Titanium, and the backspacer is copper.
It is really just a simple Friction folder, but with a twist. I had the idea to use a large detent ball to hold the blade in the open position, I have never seen anything like that, but I am sure it is not totally a unique idea. It actually works quite well, kinda similar to a slip joint.
The blade is 1095 and will be finished with a nice hamon. I will post up finished pics hopefully later this week. Anyway here are a few progress pics. And feel free to let me know what you think.

 I like that Ben, unique for sure. Did you press fit the pivot pin thru the liner?
Amazing...
Thats cool! I like the detent ball idea. Looking forward to seeing finished pics.
Cool Ben
Really like the idea ,but can't figure out how the dendent is not going to scratch the blade.
I'll keep working on it in my mind maybe by
the time you post finished knife, I will have it figured out.LOL
I love this kinda stuff
Thanks guys!
Hey Kevin, the detent ball will not touch the blade when it is closed, because the blade will is chisel ground. This will also be safer, because the edge will be down close to the frame. I am sure the ball will leave a small mark on the tang where it pops into the hole.
look really good! Great work and design!
Thanks David. I hope to have this one finished up today!
That took some thinking. Well done. It looks like a single bevel edge. Is that correct?
Yes it is chisel ground, with a single bevel.
So I was able to get it all finished up this morning. It is not perfect, but I learned a lot and will definitely be making more of them.
The OAL open is 6 1/8", with a 2.5" cutting edge
Let me know what you guys think.
Here is a video of the action. Turn your speakers down. ; )

That looks awesome, Kevin! Love the frame design, and the detent holder is a cool idea! Nicely done!
Thanks guys! This one was gone faster than I could say for sale! Its kinda nice doing a knife without any glue for a change. I see why Karl digs those take downs. :)
Great design, that is very cool!
