Title: New Shop Tool
Post by: Dan White on November 19, 2012, 11:23:00 PM
Been wanting a bandsaw for my knife shop. I went with using a Milwaukee Porta-band and stand that makes it bench set or mount. Check out pics

Let us know how you like it.
I like new tools, most of mine predate me.

Been using one of those i built an upright stand for a few years now. One of the handiest tools in my shop. Was thinking of getting another to put a courser blade on....  You won't be disappointed.

Robin the stand was made by SWAG Offroad from Oregon City, Oregon out in your part of the country.  www.swagoffroad.com (http://www.swagoffroad.com)  They make other innovative tools and products.

That's pretty cool.  I have a craftsman 10" bandsaw that I use all the time.  I can't find any blades to fit it for cutting metal though.  What does a setup like this run?  It looks like it would be a little more economical than a full size band saw.

Thanks for the link Dan. The other table Swag offers would work for me, I have lots of leather tools set up for clamping in a big vise.

Matt,
The Milwaukee porta-band was 249.00 from Northern Hydraulics. The stand and accessories was just over 200.00. What I like is both the stand and the saw are portable.
