This one is traveling to Norway! The client has been extremely patient while I tackled it. Honestly- I really don't like that having this big of a responsibility.
One mistake and the trophy tusk would have been destroyed- no second chances on this type material very heat sensitive- worse than walrus or elephant I've used!
Polished to 2000 grit then pink 3 micron cloth really makes ivory smooth! 1095 and 15N20 Damascus and mosaic pins with red and white liners

Great job Ray!
Thank you gentlemen!!!!
That is one fine blade. Does the tusk smell pretty bad when working, like bone?
That is beautiful. If you have any pictures, I would love to see a top view. I would imagine that the red/white liners really set the warthog tusk off.

Sharp knife nice work.
Rob
Wow, how big are these tusks?????
Couldn't go to a better guy by the way, Ronny is made of the good stuff!
That piece was the broken one and was maybe 1/4" longer than it is now I'm guessing 5"??
The other one I'm doing the hidden tang from is about 8"but has a worn place that makes it a real challenge
I'm in KS right now but I think I have a top view I can post on my return
Yes it stinks some when you cut it like being in the dentist chair
When I grind its not bad as I have a box fan in a window right behind the grinder pulling outside as well as a dust collector pulling from under the contact wheel so you really don't notice it grinding
Gorgeous knife Ray. I'm sure your customer will love it.
