Title: Walnut Hunter
Post by: Lin Rhea on September 02, 2012, 10:12:00 PM
I just finished this knife today. Our power was out a large portion of the time so I cranked up the generator and made do.

The blade is 4 1/4 inch of 1084 steel. The handle is crotch Walnut.

Now THAT'S a beauty!  I like it.

If you don't mind, can you give an estimate of what a knife like that one would cost.  Also, if the person ordered it today, how long would it be before they got it?  I bet you have quite the backlog...easy to see why too.

Thanks for posting it.

Thanks guys.

Email sent Nala.

Skitch, the quilt is one my mother made shortly before she passed away. I dont know of another Carhartt quilt anywhere. But even if there was, this one is special. I remember helping her cut out the pieces from my worn out brown overalls while I was sick with the flu. It sounds bad but it's one of my treasured memories. Most of it came from the area under the doubled knee area where there was relatively clean and new material. It's a large quilt so it took lots of overalls. I favored the brown Carhartt so I had generated a lot of the material over time.

Really nice knife, Lin. That sure is a pretty piece of walnut, and the hammered pin looks great in the middle of the dark wood. I always admire your eye for composition in your chosen art form.
