This a new Prototype I just finished up. I am calling it the A.P.B. or All Purpose Bowie.
This is a dressed up one with stabilized curly Koa, a tapered tang and O1. I will probably do a more utility grade version in 5160 with micarta in the future.
The Koa is hand finished to 2500grit (no buffer here!) and has super character and chatoyancy that is very hard to capture on camera. The liners are black G10, and the pins are carbon fiber w/ a copper tube.
The OAL is 9" w/ a 4.75" blade.
I am still learning how to make shiny knives, so bear with me! :D
I attached a video to try and capture the Koa a bit better.
Thanks for looking!

DANG! That gives me flash backs.
Not the knife, all them coil nails. Makes my back ache.

Beautiful.
Nice knife. I'm with Chuck, love the black liners and Koa.
I don't understand the apology about "still learning to make shiny knives".
The tang is very shiny where you polished it with the Koa. The blade appears to me to be a very well done, hand rubbed satin finish. Looks great to me.
Thanks guys!
Here are a couple shots of the sheath.

This is a very nice knife Ben. You're moving in the right direction making these shiny knives. You should be proud of it.
Just awesome Ben!!!
Ben,
Very nice....well done.
God Bless, Pierre
Looks like You nailed that one. HA HA
Really nice looking knife. I have big hands and it looks like it would fit in Your palm real well. Great job!!

Wow....that's a nice one. Could do a lot of work with that one!!
You have a winner in that knife, Ben. The tapered tang is outstanding, and your choice and use of materials shows your good taste and fine craftsmanship. And while you are not going to compete with Scott Teaschner on your leather, it's as nice or nicer than the sheaths most custom bladesmiths produce. It's hard to compare mere mortals with guys like Scott Teaschner or Robin Severe when it comes to leather products!!!
Allan
Very nice! I like the coil nails for your background, very unique and resourceful.
Thanks Lin, I appreciate the kind words. I am working on my first W2 blade(w/ hamon) right now, it is not really a hunter, but I may post it here anyway if no one protests. It is Japanese style Kwaiken and will be getting stingray and a lace wrapped handle.
Yes Allen, I definitely couldn't make a living doing leather work. :) My sheaths are heavy duty and simple. I would love to spend a day learning from someone like Scott Teaschner or Paul Long, I am sure I would learn a ton!!
Thanks everyone else for the taking the time to comment!
That is a beautiful knife, great job Ben!
Thank you sir!
P.s. This one is now available in the sponsors classifieds.
