This is a belt knife I just finished up. The curly maple is some of the best I have seen, and just looks holographic when moved!
The blade is L6, with hammer texture and some simple file work on the spine. The OAL is 8 3/8", with a little over a 4" blade.
The pins are copper.
Let me know what you think!!

and very cleanly done file work. Think I may steal that pattern if you don't mind.
That's a beauty for sure!!!
If you don't mind me asking; what did you use to stain the maple? Is that Aqua fortis or a stain?
It's stunning!
Very nice Ben, that maple looks really sharp
Another fine one, Ben. That maple is bada--... if you pardon my French. :D

Well done Ben. I like all aspects of this one. Size, shape, filework, and that handle....yup, like it all. Look forward to seeing it with the sheath.
Good job Ben! I like it.
Thanks a bunch guys!
I died the maple with fieblings light brown leather dye, buffed with 0000 steel wool, and then sealed it with 2 coats of Tung oil.
Yes very nice Ben, those stripes really "pop" as a side note I found this
you tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWCptCxNx4I) video on making curly maple pop.
now thats one i would like as a edc everything you need and nothing you don't! great job ben.
Rob,
That made me think of Auqua Fortis too. But I think AF would eat up the steel overtime unless you can get it completely neutralized, that could be tough to do where it seeps in between the scales and the tang. Wont harm the brass or copper though, just the steel.
It makes a beautifull finish though with a hand rubbed oil.
Eric
I've done a couple of muzzleloaders with AF & as long I neutralized with ammonia, I've had no problem with the locks or furniture rusting up.
Its been 15+ years since I used it, can ya still buy the stuff??
Thanks guys! I just added a couple sheath pics.
My favorite!
very, very nice.....
Great user design. That is some nice Maple. Good job Ben
Chris
